Here’s a great new tool for those of you who have great drum samples but aren’t necessarily the greatest drummers. Instead of scrolling through thousands of MIDI grooves or trying to build a pattern yourself, you can use this tool to dynamically create a pattern similar to what a real drummer would do.
Pro Tools has finally entered the world of non-proprietary audio interfaces. Pro Tools 9 introduces a handful of new features, but the biggest bombshell is that you no longer have to have a Pro Tools (or Digidesign or now Avid) interface. This is great news, but what about all of the baggage that comes with it?
No matter how good the equipment, it is the skill of the engineer that will always shine through in the end result.
The answer always is “you gotta really love it”. Of course everyone quickly says, “oh I love it”, but who doesn’t love music and the idea of recording people? I think that the “you gotta really love it” answer goes much deeper than most people think.
There seems to have been a lot of confusion about Apogee’s Symphony system. It has been marketed as this great competitor to Digidesign Pro Tools HD systems, but it really is not an apples to apples comparison.
